Join the free beta via Apple’s TestFlight (iOS) or Google Play Closed Testing (Android). If you’d like to help, you can make an optional $7 contribution to support development. Support is appreciated but does not affect access or timing.
External testing requires Apple’s (or Google’s) beta approval. Testing is free; contributions are optional and refundable within 14 days. Contributions do not grant priority or guaranteed access.

Tap Scan to discover people nearby using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). Scanning is purely local on your device — we do not hit a server to fetch people around you.
BLE is required for scanning only. Once you connect, chats continue over the normal network like any other app. We don’t keep permanent copies of your messages — they’re intended to be transient and device-local.
Tags are short labels under profiles and groups (e.g., Stylist, Music lover, Tech lead, Dancer). They’re a lightweight identity layer that preserves anonymity while making it easy to find common ground.
You appear with a nickname and tags — no phone number or real name required. You choose what to share and when to connect.
It works like any other chat app over the network, but we keep it minimal: we don’t keep permanent copies of your chats; they’re intended to be transient and device-local.
At a conference or concert, open Nearby and scan. You might find a friend you didn’t expect, a DJ tagged “Salsa,” or a local vendor. Connect instantly — no number exchange needed. You can keep chatting later even after you leave.
Yes — toggle Nearby Visibility anytime. Hidden means you won’t appear in scans, but existing contacts and groups can still reach you.
No — the final Near22 app will be free to download and use. You may choose to support development with an optional $7 contribution during the beta, but it’s not required for access.
